Naming

A full name consists of three names: The personal name, the clan name (traditional, lineage) and the family name (bestowed by priests after founding a family).

Ever since the founding of the first meeting place, the need arose to give names to some families and clans. The priests spend one week early in the new year to divine the family names – a tradition that is still in effect to this day.

The structure is as followed:CLAN – FAMILY – PERSONAL NAMEMarriages are generally collectively held shortly before that week. Children and unmarried individuals share the family name of their parents. After marriage, a new family name is bestowed to the couple. Want to know more about marriages?

Recently, they have started doing this about a month before the naming rites. For rites and festivals, see calendar below. If a clan has many young, healthy people to its name, same-sex marriage is more likely to be granted. While not forbidden, it is still a novel concept and brought with it the introduction of two new genders to signify the new status in a joining. There has always been the male-husband and the female-wife. Now there are the male-wife and female-husband.
